Get the water supply turned off before starting the repair. It does not matter how you do it, but make sure the water supply has been turned off. Now, get the faucet opened and let the remaining water inside comes out. Then after that, the screw that holds the valve knob must be removed. For this step you can use a screwdriver. The packing nut is the next thing which must be removed. You can use wrench for this step. Then if there is any packing-material in the valve, then get it removed for good. You can use a needle-nose pair. Then get the valve stem pulled using the pliers. The old washer must be safely removed by unscrewing its holders. Replace it with the new one.
Get the stem cleaned by removing any debris you can find. Get the valve of the stem replaced as well as the o-ring. Get plumbers’ tape and then get the thread of the faucet wrapped. Get the packing nut replaced and do not forget to get it tightened using wrench. Now, get the handle put back on and the water as well. Evaluate your work whether there is still problem or not.
