There are some different methods of a bathtub faucet replacement and are depends on the types of spouts. Here, I will brief you the ways to replace the most common types of spouts. The first method will be for the washer less faucet. Typically, it has a single handle that rests on the top of the escutcheon plate. First of all, turn off all of the water supply to the bathtub faucet. Then open the faucet by unscrewing all of the screws which attach the escutcheon to the wall. Expose the valve by pulling the plate away, and then you need to unscrew the entire valve from the pipes.
Simply go to a home goods store and take the old faucet as the sample to purchase a new faucet which has the same measurement. Your work will be much easier if the new faucet has the same measurement with the old one. Bring the new faucet home and wrap either the faucet or the bathtub pipe using Teflon tape. Now, you may continue installing the faucet by repeating the process but in reversal.
The second bathtub faucet replacement method is for those which are includes in a washer-type faucet and they usually have two or even three handles. Generally, it’s nearly the same with the previous method. The only different thing is, you have to unscrew the faucet heads and then the entire valve to remove the old faucet, instead of detaching a plate.
