How to find a wood stud to hang our picture safe? Actually we do not have to worry about it because most of home in the United States have installed wood stud installation at a distance of 16 inches or 24 inches , depending on which standard is used . We do not need to buy expensive equipment just to find the wood studs in the walls of our homes. It's easy, look for the first wood stud that we will use as a reference and make a small dot using a pencil. Make it as a sign of early signs to look for another wood stud. Hold your head on the wall, observe carefully, and find dimples or bumps on the wall. Then using a pencil mark the lump. The lump is actually the head of a nail or screw head. After doing measurement, the distance of 16 inches or 24 inches to the right and left and up and down on the wall.

There is again another way of how to find a wood stud, namely by referring to the power jack. It is very easy; first we remove the plate from the wall outlet. If the wood stud is still not visible, go to some part of the outlet using a screwdriver or other safety equipment. Mostly, electrical outlet boxes installed before the wall is complete, the outlet is usually strengthened by using a hook on the wall. Most likely, the box will be supported by wood stud on the right and left sides. If the distance is very close, it means that the electrical box installed before the wall is completed. If the distance is far, it means the electrical box installed after the wall is completed.

This is the last way of how to find a wood stud in the walls of our homes. Try to use a switch or light switch. Or procedure is the same way as we did at the outlet. Generally light switch or button is also mounted on the wood studs before the wall is completed. Calculate only the distance among 16 inch, 32 inch, 48 inch, and so on. If using a standard 24- inch, then we can proceed with the 48 inch, 72 inch, and so on.
