There are various materials which can be picked for our countertops started from the granite, real wood, and of course the laminate wood. For the last material (the laminate wood), it has pros and cons if you are considering to pick it as the main material for your countertop. Okay, first of all, laminate wood is different from the real wood since it is made of many layers which are imprinted one after another and then finished with real wood thin layer as the last layer. That is why it looks like real wood but it’s actually not. Well, there are advantages and disadvantages of this laminate wood countertop material which are:
a. Affordable price/ inexpensive. It also stands better to elements compared to real wood material.
b. It is also waterproof and more durable to scratch if we are able to maintain it well it will be able to last for years for sure.
c. It has various types of look/ wood grain. Yes, this is one of the best advantages of laminate wood, since it has the look of real wood.
d. It is durable since it is laminated so that you will not need to worry that your laminate wood countertop will “betray” you, since it is tough.
a. It is too thing (the plastic laminate) and will be too brittle to be used as countertops material.
b. It has lower standard than real wood material since after all, if you aim for the look, the real wood material still wins over the laminated one.
c. It is easy to burn. Yes, since it is basically plastic, then it is easier to burn compared to the real wood material.
d. If you cannot maintain it well, it will be damaged easier than the real wood material.
So, the choice is yours after all. But nothing is perfect right?
