Paint is a coating material that is used as a coating capable of providing the function of beauty, protection, and to show the beauty of the other functions on a surface. Here, some materials used for painting. The nature of the paint in general is to have adhesion and can cover the surface with ease. Formulation / paint base material consists of four components, namely binders, solvents (paint thinner), pigments, and additives. The four components have functionality or usability of each. Well, here we will discuss them one by one of the basic ingredients of the paint.
The first we need to know is the Binder, which is a basic ingredient of paint adhesion components that form on the surface or object to be painted. Based on the formation of layers (films), binder divided into several types: Solid thermoplastic / evaporation, oxidation, Catalyst, Heat, and emulsion type. The emphasis is on the nature of the raw material yellowing, which of the three popular raw materials mentioned above, there are specific raw materials suitable for certain applications. In addition to the materials mentioned above, there are also other raw materials and also called Velva Acrylic VAE (Vinyl Acetate / Ethylene). It is the development of raw material Vinyl Acrylic which aims to improve the quality of the binder. The second part is equally important Solvent ( thinner ) , which is the fluid used in the paint industry and help to dissolve the evaporation that are not part of the dry paint layer . Solvent has functions including: Dissolve and / or dilute the paint, Controlling the drying time, and Setting the viscosity.
The third formula is Pigment, is one of the raw materials in the manufacture of paint that is used as a color in the paint. Pigment id divided in tow kinds: soluble and insoluble in the paint binder. This component has a function, namely as a shaper of beauty, protection, and special functions. Additive Materials as materials used for painting is, components whose function is to provide or improve specific properties owned by the binder, pigment, and solvent. For example, to inhibit the growth of bio - organisms in the finished paint products.
